Gary Seymour Biography

Gary Seymour was born in Blackpool but grew up in the south of England. He worked in Heidelberg Germany before going onto study catering at Slough College.

Gary moved to Leintwardine in the early nineties and soon became a regular at the Sun. He is a keen sports fan and played for Leintwardine football team whilst managing and running the junior team for a number of years.

In 2002, having purchased the local fish and chip business, Gary moved next door to the Sun. As Flossie's neighbour, Gary got to know her well and is proud that he was considered not just a neighbour, but a friend.

"Like a lot of other Flossie's friends and regulars of the Sun I would pop in to see her daily, usually having a chat and making her a cup of tea and she would insist that I had a swift half myself".

As a pub regular, Gary would also help out serving pints in the Sun plus ordering, racking and tapping the beer. With the help of several other regulars, he organised the first beer festival at the Sun in 2006 and has continued to do so each year.

Gary has been a member of CAMRA for a number of years and is passionate about real ale and traditional English pubs. His boundless enthusiasm for real ale ensured that he and Nick quickly became good friends.

Fact: Gary was so taken by Hobsons Best Bitter he named his Rhodesian Ridgeback dog "Hobson.
