Plans

Planning Report: 12/01/2010

A meeting with all the necessary departments at Herefordshire Council including Conservation, Highways, Planning, Licensing and Building Control has left us with a feeling that as long as we are very sympathetic to design and scale then a suitable development would be allowed.

Following these discussions we have decided to design a pavilion style building constructed of local sustainable timber and insulated to a very high standard, the timber building will need to be linked to the original by means of a reclaimed brick/glass construction, however the final detail is yet to be agreed, a plan of visual ideas will be posted soon on website and at pub notice-board.

In addition to the fabric of the building we intend that many environmental and sustainable technologies will be included in the design. These include:

In addition to all this we want to increase insulation, draft-proofing and low energy lighting where appropriate. All of this will enable us to meet our own desires of creating a carbon neutral village pub.

Sun on the BBC

The Sun Inn is to appear once again on national television on BBC 1 in the programme "Country Tracks".
Although, filmed in the Sun’s famous Red Brick Bar in March this year, it is hoped that it will also feature unique footage of much loved and sadly missed former landlady Flossie Lane. Pub regular Wayne Smith captured Floss on film during the Annual Beer Festival in August 2007 and kindly donated a copy to the BBC to use in the show.Country Tracks will be shown on Sunday 10th October at 11am.

Sun Band make Finals

Sun Inn regulars Ross and Haydon of the pubs resident band Bridge 32 have made it through to the regional finals of Open Mic UK.

Consent Granted

After what seems like many months of meetings and consultation it was a great surprise and huge relief when Planning permission and listed building consent was granted on 24th May 2010.
